Witness appeal after six people injured in Isle of Wight boat crash

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is jointly investigating a marine incident near Totland Bay on the Isle of Wight with Hampshire Constabulary.

A boat crashed close to the bay on Saturday (September 24) shortly after 9pm. Six people were injured when it ran aground.

All six were taken to hospital. Two of the six, a 60-year-old woman and a 57-year-old man, were taken to hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries.

MCA investigators and police officers are appealing for information about what happened. They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who has video footage or photographs.

Hampshire Constabulary has published an appeal asking the public to get in touch.

PC Potts-Henderson, from Hampshire police, said: “We are working with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency to jointly investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident. 

"We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident. We would also like to speak to anyone who may have video footage, which could greatly assist our investigation."
